Draft for legal review. This document was prepared as a starting point and must be reviewed by a qualified lawyer before launch.
The short version
- Our games are free to play. Some offer optional purchases, such as coins, hints, a subscription or Remove Ads, but you never have to buy anything.
- Coins and other virtual items have no real-world value and can't be cashed out.
- Payments and refunds are handled by Apple or Google.
- Leaderboards rank what you earn by playing. Rank is never for sale, and cheating gets scores removed.
- Nothing here takes away rights you have under consumer law where you live.
About these terms
These terms are an agreement between you and [Legal entity name] (“Chaosryn Studios”, “we”, “us”), [Street address, City, Postcode], [Country]. They cover the games published by Chaosryn Studios (listed in the next section) on iOS and Android, their online features such as boards and leaderboards, and this website.
By downloading or playing one of our games, you agree to these terms. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information. If you don't agree, please don't use our games.
Games covered
These terms apply to each of these games:
| Game | Platforms | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Word Crumbs | iOS, Android | Coming soon |
The same rules apply to all of them. Where a game has something of its own, such as particular purchases or online features, it's listed under Game-specific terms. When we release a new game, we add it here and note the change in the version history.
Who can play
Our games are made for a mixed audience aged 6 and up. Each game's page shows its age rating. If you are under 18, or under the age of majority where you live, a parent or guardian must agree to these terms for you.
Parents and guardians are responsible for purchases made on their child's device. Apple and Google offer parental controls, such as “Ask to Buy” and purchase approvals, that you can turn on. Our guide for parents has more.
Your licence to play
We give you a personal, non-commercial, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable licence to download and play our games on devices you own or control. We keep all other rights.
You agree not to:
- Copy, modify, decompile, reverse engineer or try to extract the source code of our games.
- Use bots, scripts, macros or other automation to play.
- Exploit bugs or glitches for an advantage, instead of reporting them to us.
- Interfere with our servers, or with other players' games.
- Rent, sell or share a game or your account, or use them for any commercial purpose.
Accounts and player IDs
When you first open one of our games, it creates a random player ID for that game. You don't need a name or email to play.
You can choose to sign in with Google (Android) or Apple (iOS) to link your save, so you can carry on on another phone. Keep that account secure. You are responsible for what happens under it.
If you don't sign in and you lose your phone, reset it or delete the game, your progress may be lost and we may not be able to restore it.
Coins and other virtual items
Our games may include virtual items such as coins, hints and XP boosts. Some you earn by playing, some you can buy.
- Virtual items are a limited licence to use them in the game they come from. You don't own them.
- They have no real-world value. They can't be cashed out, exchanged for money or anything else of value, sold, or transferred to another player, account or game.
- We may change prices, balances or what items do, for example to keep a game fair and fun.
- Unused virtual items are lost if your account is deleted or ended, unless the law where you live says otherwise.
Purchases and refunds
All purchases in our games are made through the Apple App Store or Google Play, under their terms. We never see or handle your payment details. Prices are shown in the store before you buy.
Refunds are handled by the store you bought from:
- Apple: reportaproblem.apple.com
- Google Play: Google Play refund help
If a purchase didn't arrive, try Restore purchases in the game first (Word Crumbs: Profile → Account → Restore purchases), then contact support.
Subscriptions
Some of our games offer a subscription, such as a Premium tier. What it includes is shown in the game and on its store listing. For every subscription:
- It renews automatically at the end of each period until you cancel.
- You are charged through your App Store or Google Play account. The price and period are shown before you subscribe.
- To avoid the next charge, cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date in your device's store subscription settings.
- Deleting the game, or your account in it, does not cancel your subscription.
- After you cancel, the subscription stays active until the end of the period you paid for.
EU and UK players: you normally have 14 days to withdraw from an online purchase. For digital content that is delivered straight away, you agree to immediate delivery and acknowledge that you lose this right once delivery starts, where the law allows.
Ads
Some of our games show ads. These can be rewarded ads, which you can choose to watch for something in the game (such as a hint), and ads between levels. Where a game offers a Remove Ads purchase, it takes away the ads between levels, and rewarded ads stay available as an option. Which ads each game shows is listed under Game-specific terms. How ads use data is explained in our Privacy Policy.
Leaderboards, XP and fair play
Where our games have leaderboards, they rank players by what they earn by playing, for example the XP earned per day, week and season. Some purchases can boost how much XP you earn, but rank itself is never sold, in any of our games.
Cheating spoils the game for everyone. It includes:
- Using modified or hacked versions of a game.
- Using bots, scripts or other automation.
- Running several accounts to boost scores.
- Exploiting bugs, or working with other players to manipulate results.
We may review scores that look suspicious. If we find cheating, we may remove scores, reset progress, or suspend or end the account. Seen a cheater? Report it to support.
Display names
In games with display names, you can pick one from our list of generated names. Players 13 and over may type their own. Typed names must not:
- Be offensive, rude, hateful or sexual.
- Pretend to be another person, a brand or a member of our team.
- Include personal information, such as a real full name, address, phone number or social media handle.
We may change or remove any name that breaks these rules, without notice.
Game-specific terms
Everything else in these terms applies to all our games. This is what each game offers on top, so you know what you're agreeing to.

Behaving well
Please play fairly and respect other players and our team. Don't use our games to harass anyone, break the law, or infringe other people's rights. Don't try to get into accounts, systems or data that aren't yours.
Ending your account
You can stop playing at any time. To delete your account and data in a game, use its account screen:
- Word Crumbs: Profile → Account → Delete account
Or use our delete account page.
We may suspend or end your access if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, or if the law requires it. Where reasonable, we'll tell you why. If your account ends, you lose access to its progress and virtual items, unless the law where you live says otherwise. Active subscriptions must be cancelled in the app store.
Changes to our games and these terms
We keep improving our games, so features, levels, boards and items may change, and some may be removed. We may also stop offering a game. If we do, we'll give reasonable notice in that game where we can.
We may update these terms, for example when we release a new game. We'll change the version and “last updated” date and add a note to the version history below. For important changes, we'll tell you in the game before they take effect. If you keep playing after that, the new terms apply.
Our content, and Apple and Google
Our games, including their words, art, music, code, names and logos, belong to [Legal entity name] or our licensors. “Chaosryn Studios” and the names of our games (Word Crumbs) are our trademarks. Apple and Google are not parties to these terms.
If you downloaded a game from the Apple App Store
- These terms are between you and us, not Apple. We, not Apple, are responsible for the game.
- Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the game.
- If the game fails to meet a warranty that applies, you may tell Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price (if any). Apple has no other warranty obligation for the game, to the extent the law allows.
- We, not Apple, handle any claims about the game, including product liability, failure to meet legal requirements, and consumer protection claims.
- We, not Apple, handle any claim that the game infringes someone else's intellectual property.
- You confirm you are not in a country subject to a US government embargo, and are not on any US government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
Disclaimers
We work hard to make our games fun and reliable, but we provide them “as is” and “as available”. We can't promise they will always be available, error-free or compatible with every device.
Some parts of our games work offline. Online features, such as boards, leaderboards, sign-in and purchases, need an internet connection, and may sometimes be unavailable, for example during maintenance.
This doesn't affect any rights you have under consumer law that can't be excluded.
Limits on our liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or unforeseeable loss, or for loss of data, progress or virtual items caused by things outside our reasonable control. Our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid for in-game purchases in our games in the 12 months before the claim.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. If you are a consumer in the EU or UK, you keep all your statutory rights.
Indemnity
Where the law allows, if you break these terms on purpose or misuse our games, and someone makes a claim against us because of it, you agree to cover our reasonable costs. This doesn't apply to consumers where local law doesn't permit it.
Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of [Country / State], and its courts can hear disputes. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and you can bring a claim in your local courts.
Most problems are quicker to fix by talking. Please contact us first and we'll try to sort it out.
The legal small print
- Severability: if part of these terms can't be enforced, the rest still applies.
- Entire agreement: these terms and our Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about our games.
- No waiver: if we don't enforce a term straight away, we can still enforce it later.
- Assignment: you can't transfer your rights under these terms. We may transfer ours, for example if our business is sold, without reducing your rights.
